Cinco De Mayo Soho Strut
Originating between Mexican-American communities to commemorate freedom and democracy, Soho always loves to celebrate Cinco De Mayo! Here is the perfect “Soho Strut” of places to celebrate Cinco De Mayo:
- Start off at Toloache Thompson (205 Thompson). Have some chips and guacamole for appetizers. The manager Ricardo said they are planning to have a big celebration with a mariachi band and a DJ. There will also be $7.00 margaritas and $5.00 shots. For more information visit www.toloachenyc.com or call (212).420-0600
- Walk over for happy hour at Pinche Taqueria (333 Lafayette). There will be a mariachi band, $4 draft and bottled beer and $5 margaritas and tequila shots.
- Stop over for a quick taco (or two) at Tacombi (267 Elizabeth). I love Tacombi, especially their corn tortilla tacos. The vegetarian “corn and poblano” was a surprise favorite, as is the pork belly. Here is a picture from one of the last times I visited:
- Party all night at La Esquina (114 Kenmare). This speakeasy-styled restaurant & bar has been around for a while but it always is a good time (when you can get in). Make sure to bring a $50 to tip the doorman in the case they are full downstairs, which is a high probability on Cinco De Mayo. They are known for their spicy and sweet margaritas!
