Since 2013, it has been our mission at Soho Strut to connect the business, residential and tourist community here in Soho! We have a lot on our plate for 2017.
But first, a year in review:
- We launched the Soho/Nolita Neighborhood Guide – the first batch was 25,000 copies and 21 hotels are now handing them out to their guests! Thanks to Yukie from the Soho Memory Project for adding a historic walking tour!
- Soho Retail Network: We hosted 9 educational breakfasts for leaders of the retail community! Thanks to our hosts – Roots, La Perla, Athleta, Bloomingdales, Molton Brown, Nespresso, Birchbox, Erno Laszlo, and Kworq!
- Soho Strut is now a 501c3 charitable organization!
- We hosted & promoted shopping events at Alice & Olivia, Rebecca Minkoff, Nicole Miller, Monica Vinader, and Rag & Bone
- We organized several large scale community events: The Soho Soiree, Cinco Strut, How To Buy An NYC Apartment, & Kin Spaces Launch Party
- We connected the local arts community with Mendez Soho and Florence Belsky Foundation to produce six Soho Salons! Read more here.
- Pop-ups became even more prevalent and we have said “hi” and “bye” to many – Google, Casper, Harry’s, Taco Bell, M. Gemi, Aerie, The Arrivals, Exhale, Real Real, Raden, Land’s End, Everlane, and Magnum.
- Many brands:
- Opened: Monica Vinader, RM Williams, Vera Bradley, Nautica, Canada Goose, Nike, Asics, Pirch, John Hardy, Byredo, Balmain
- Closed: Bare Minerals, Anthropologie, Trade Mark, Helmut Lang, Scoop, Ben Sherman, Samsung, American Apparel
- Moved: Burton, Tous, Ted Baker, Adidas Originals, Outdoor Voices, Zara, Free People
2017 and beyond:
- Soho/Nolita Neighborhood Guide: If you would like more information about participating in future editions (next print is February 2017) or would like to have a physical guide mailed to you, please reach out to us at Danielle@SohoStrut.com.

- Clean Up Soho: A group of concerned residents are continuing to discuss potential solutions (short and long-term / public and private funding) to deal with the trash issue. You can read more here.
- New Website: We are working to re-create an interactive Soho Strut website for business owners and managers to submit events and communicate with one another! Hopefully this will commence later this month and a finished product in March 2017.
- Art Strut 2017: Our community-wide art event Art Strut was a huge success in 2015, so get ready for the 2017 Art Strut – Thursday, May 4th! Participating art galleries in Soho will be open to the public as well as a private (ticketed) loft party & art fundraiser! Pre-sale tickets are $35 at: ArtStrut.Splashthat.com.
- Retail Community: We are always looking to be connected to new retailers in the neighborhood for our monthly retail breakfasts, participating in the Soho guide, promoting shopping events, contributing to gift bags, etc!
- Real Estate: Danielle Nazinitsky is Soho’s neighborhood real estate expert at Corcoran. No one can sell the neighborhood and lifestyle better than her! Danielle has been in most of the co-ops and condos and can help navigate buyers to find their dream home. Don’t hesitate to put us in touch! Danielle.Nazinitsky@corcoran.com.
Happy New Year!
