New Restaurants & Bars Coming To Soho Spring 2014
There are four new restaurants/bars opening in May/June 2014 in and around Soho from the Community Board 2 website:
Forks and Parrot will be located at 517-519 Broome Street (@ Thompson)
- While this restaurant has been one of the slower construction sites (check out the picture I took of the complete mess it was back in September 2013) there is still no information about this restaurant online. This block of Broome Street is in a renaissance of sorts, with the recently opened Tailor (formerly the Dalloway and Lani Kai) and several vacant retail spots of future shops.
Il Mulino Prime will be located at 53 Grand Street (@ West Broadway)
- Reported by Grubstreet, Il Mulino Prime will open in June 2014 and will feature a menu of prime meats. This restaurant will be operated by a chain of restaurants with the “Il Mulino” name, such as the one on 86 W. 3rd St and Trattoria Il Mulino in Flatiron.
Lumos will be located at 90 W. Houston St
- When Zirzamin closed late last year, there has been a vacant sign out front ever since. It turns out, another bar called Lumos will be taking its place and should be opening in May or June 2014. There isn’t any other information, but I will be sure to update when Lumos opens. This block of Houston Street has had its fair share of places closing and opening; Lobster Smack shut its doors in March 2014, which Yelp is still reporting as open.
Bluestone Lane will be located at 55 Greenwich Ave
- While not exactly in Soho, coffee shop Bluestone Lane will be opening late May 2014 at 55 Greenwich Street. Based on Google searching, it is a coffee-shop based out of Australia and already has a few locations in Manhattan. I reached out to Bluestone and Nicholas Stone wrote me back:
This will be more expansive than our current Manhattan coffee shops. We are very excited to be developing this project in such a prestigious and welcoming location.
There are also two bakeries that have applied to sell Beer and Wine at the Community Board 2 meeting: The Frog’s Crown and recently opened Home Sweet Home. Ever since Starbucks was in the news to sell alcohol within their stores, this must be trending in local coffee shops.
